How to grow with The Mushroom Box:
Each box is filled with wood substrate and has been colonized by a mushrooms mycelium.
Weight: 1.1kgs
Regrows 2-3 times per box.
Step 1: Place Them Indoors
1. They enjoy Indirect natural light during the day, like in the forest (no direct sunlight)
2. Access to fresh air (avoid direct wind or air conditioning)
3. Sanitary (to avoid contamination/mould growth)
Consider your kitchen counter, a shelf, or a windowsill.
Remember! Mushrooms are mostly moisture so we'll want to protect them from drying up.
Once all thats done, you're ready to proceed with the steps on the back of your mushroom box!
1.Cut the X
Carefully cut an "X" on the front of your grow box. A little larger than a R5 coin.

2. Waiting for mushrooms to grow
Mushrooms can take anywhere from 1-21 days to begin forming. ( there’s enough moisture in the box to get the first set of mushrooms growing, but you can lightly pray moisture over the X to stimulate the mycelium.

3. Caring for your mushrooms as they grow
Once your mini mushrooms emerge from the box you'll want to monitor them to ensure they stay healthy. From the point they are visible like in the above image, they'll mature within 7-10 days.

Light: Direct sunlight will dry up your mushrooms. Keep your mushroom box inside with some indirect natural lighting (just like in the forest).
Fresh air: Too little fresh air will cause them to grow long and stemmy. Ensure theres enough fresh air for them to fan out like in the product pictures.
Hydration: Too little hydration may cause them to dry up. There are a few ways to keep your mushrooms hydrated. 1. Spray them with water throughout the day. 2. Keep a humidifier nearby your mushroom boxes. 3. Dunk your mushrooms in a bowl of water for 5 seconds 2-3 times a day.
(Wait until your mushrooms are dry before rehydrating them as too much water will make them go mushy)

4. Harvest your mushrooms at the right time !!
Important: Harvest your mushrooms when they’re about the width of the box and have fanned-out caps.

Harvesting before spore release ensures future flushes! So don't leave em
too long.
5. Encouraging another growth of mushrooms:
Place the box in a dark, cool location (such as a cupboard or a fridge) for 5-10 days, allowing the mycelium to rest up.
When ready, take the box out of its dark cool environment and put it back in its designated spot.
The increase in oxygen will encourage the second flush of mushrooms to begin growing within the next 1-21 days.
Each box is able to regrow mushrooms up to 3 times.
What to do with your mushroom box once is finished growing mushrooms?
Once your mushroom box is spent, you can bury the remaining mycelium amongst your veggie garden!

Plants and mycelium have a symbiotic relationship. The mycelium helps plants transfer nutrients and can increase crop yields significantly!

An added bonus: If there’s an enough moisture & shade, you’ll have mushrooms popping up amongst your garden within a few weeks - months.
It’s the gift that keeps
on giving!
