It's time to pick the mushrooms you grew!

  • When are they ready? Your pink mushrooms are ready when they look like open flowers, but the edges are still a little curled down.

  • How to pick them? Grab a big bunch of mushrooms at the bottom. Gently twist and pull. The whole bunch will come off. This will be your burger!

Why You'll Love This Burger

  • It tastes meaty and yummy.

  • The pink mushroom is super healthy.

  • It's easy to cook.

Let's Make the Burger!

What You Need:

  • 2 big bunches of Pink Oyster mushrooms

  • 2 spoons of olive oil

  • 2 spoons of soy sauce

  • 1 spoon of smoky paprika powder

  • 1 spoon of cumin powder

  • A little bit of coriander powder

  • A little bit of garlic powder

  • A little bit of oregano spice

  • Juice from half a lemon

For the Garlic Sauce:

  • 1 cup of yogurt or mayonnaise

  • 1 clove of garlic, mashed up

  • Juice from half a lemon

  • 2 spoons of fresh parsley, chopped small

For Putting it Together:

  • 2 burger buns

  • Lettuce

  • 1 tomato, sliced

  • A few slices of red onion

What to Do:

  1. Make the yummy garlic sauce. Put all the garlic sauce things in a small bowl. Mix them together well. Put the sauce in the fridge to stay cool.

  2. Get the mushroom ready. Take your big pink mushroom bunch. Gently press it flat with your hands. Now it looks like a burger patty.

  3. Cook the mushroom. Put a pan on the stove and make it hot. Do not put oil in yet. Put the mushroom patty in the dry, hot pan. Press it down hard with a flat spoon  for one minute. Flip it over and press it down again. Cook it until it is brown (about 6 minutes).

  4. Add the flavour. In a small bowl, mix all the things for the mushroom burger flavour (olive oil, soy sauce, and all the spices).

  5. Finish cooking. Use a brush to paint the flavour sauce on top of the mushroom in the pan. Flip it over and paint the other side. Cook for 3 more minutes on each side. The sauce will get thick and sticky, and the mushroom will look dark and yummy.

  6. Build your burger! Warm up your burger buns. Spread the cool garlic sauce on the bread. Place your hot mushroom patty on the bun. Add lettuce, tomato, and onion. Put the top bun on and it's ready to eat!
